A new Gallup Poll shows only a little more than a quarter of Americans feel confident in the U.S. public education system. Michelle notes in this interview that there isn't one policy alone that can improve our schools but that there are a broad set of policies currently taking root in some states that are student centered and can move our country in a new direction.

Importantly, in Connecticut, such policies have won the endorsement of teachers unions and education reform groups. Michelle discusses the need to find similar common ground elsewhere and calls on teachers unions to work for education reform across the country.
