Your Education Stories
At StudentsFirst our priority of has always been to fight for an education system where students receive a world-class education, regardless of their background. When we asked our members to share their stories thousands of parents, teachers, and students responded. Here's one of our stories. Read the others below and share your own:
“Education brings happiness, opportunity, discipline, responsibility, and communication across all people internationally and nationally. We need to prioritize education more than anything for it is a valuable gift everyone should cherish.”

“Education is the portal to an engaged citizenry; most especially for children in difficult circumstances as an enabler to overcome the constraints to their development.”
Dietrick L., San Diego, CA
“I have spent hours in the inner-city classrooms of great teachers achieving great results, and am convinced that what is holding back under-privileged kids isn't as much poverty as a system that prioritizes adult needs.”
Heidi L., Pacific Palisades, CA
“Every child in this community impacts everyone else here. As they grow up, they continue to impact us and other communities. I figure, it's the least I can do and is the most important place any of my tax money is spent!”
Kellie F., Stockbridge, GA
“I'm a grandparent and concerned for my grandchildren's future. Public education is struggling and college education is out of reach financially. This country needs to put a premium on ALL people getting a good education not just the rich.”
Marcy D., Denver, CO
“My husband and I sacrificed to send our children to private school because the schools in our neighborhood were not equipped to prepare them for the future. The educational system should be excellent for all students, no matter which neighborhood they live in or their socioeconomic status.”
Tonya W., Lanham, MD
“As a high school counselor, I have had the good fortune of serving students from different demographic backgrounds and there is one thing that unites them. All students have the opportunity and ability to be successful with conscientious policy, family and community support and educators that believe in their potential.”
David N., Winston Salem, NC
“I joined StudentsFirst because I have thoroughly enjoyed my education. I feel like all students deserve to have the chance of excelling and truly enjoying learning. I joined Students First to help find ways to excite other students about school.”
Bryony J., Virginia Beach, VA
“As a person who has experienced the adversities of being poor and underprivileged, it was education that played a major part in guaranteeing a future. I would like an opportunity to share my experience and encourage students to persevere in doing their best, no matter what.”
Dr. Okpara N., Kansas City, MO
“As a teacher of 55 years in the public schools, here and in the Philippines, education is very dear to my heart because I have faith that education is the concept that will eliminate poverty and I also believe that education starts with a good teacher.”
Lumen C., Jersey City, NJ
“Our past is only as good as the future generations recall it. The future rests with future generations we raise and leave behind. As parents, success is only derived via education and we must leave that in place for our children.”
Edgar B., Munford, TN
“Because several teachers put me first ... I am who I am because of who they were ... And I believe that education is the best way to pay it forward.”
Rodrecas D., Bernice, LA
“The public school system failed to aid me in my challenges with dyslexia. I was the child left behind.”
Olivia F., Student, Birmingham, AL
