Help Save Nevada’s Great Teachers Like Justin Brecht
A teacher in Nevada's public schools for seven years, Justin Brecht loved helping students see their potential. He was named teacher of the year — twice — and had the respect of parents and colleagues.
But "Last in, First Out" policies in the state of Nevada meant that Justin was fired, just because he was the last one hired. His performance and successes with students had no merit in the seniority-based system.
Nevada is losing its great teachers to an ineffective system and it needs to stop.
